A branding project is an ongoing process between both the designer and client. Through key defined points in the project , we build up your brand using multiple stages of research, development, and refinement.
As a project together can last a few weeks, I integrate the online project management tool Monday.com to keep you up to date on everything that's happening with your project. Through here, you are able to check live updates from me on which task or stage I'm at in the process, as well as add comments, upload files and links, and share information with me along the way.
By communicating through Monday.com, we can easily find all the information we need and can continue to add to it to ensure the strongest and most well informed designs results for your brand.
Creating Your Account
You'll receive an invitation to your project board through
e-mail. From there you will be asked to create an account which you will use to log in to the project. Once you're logged in, be sure to save the website somewhere handy so you can access it quickly when needed.
At a Glance
Your project board will be set up similar to what you see below. All projects are different and so this may vary slightly, but in general the tasks will be split up in to 4 categories - Project Preparation, Research, Development, then Finalisation. In each category you will see the individual tasks involved, going in chronological order from top to bottom.
Understanding the Columns
The first column is the Status bar. Here you are able to see my current status on the tasks, giving you regular updates on the project.
Beside the Status bar are the Notes. The Notes help to give extra information on the status, especially ones that might be marked Brain Block or Paused so that you know what's going on from my end at all times.
In the Due By column we have the date that the tasks are due. This might be updated regularly depending on how fast we are moving through a project, or whether we are met with hurdles and need to postpone a task.
The Link column allows me to add external links to our board. These can be links to websites, documents, online forms, and even shared folders on Google Drive where I might upload design work for you to download or review.
In the File column I am able to upload files here to share with you directly.
Adding Conversations, Files and Notes
If you click on any of the speech bubble icons next to a task, you enter the conversations section for that particular task. In this section you are able to see any new updates that I have written and reply to these directly by clicking the little reply icon at the bottom of my update. You can also write an update of your own, and this can be anything from asking me a question about the task, to giving me new information that will help with my research and designing. Basically this is where we have conversations about particular parts of the project, similar to if we were e-mailing about a topic, except everything here is separated and kept related to its own task to avoid confusion and to make it easy for us to find things later on.
If you click on Info Boxes next to Updates, you are able to add files and notes to our conversations. A file can be anything from a document, to an image or even a piece of design work. A note could be used to add copy text that we will use for a website. Notes can be edited at any time so this is a very handy tool for editing and updating pieces of copy text for a project.
(The Add Q&A section is irrelevant to my projects
and so this will not be used in our process together).
Staying on Top of Everything
You can check the newest comments and conversations to the tasks by looking at your personal inbox which can be found in the top left corner of your dashboard. You can save any new updates, click like, or respond to them directly from your inbox.
Any tasks with conversations on them will also show up on the main project board in the blue speech bubble icons.
Whenever anything new happens with your project board, whether it's a new conversation or a response to one, you will automatically receive an
e-mail notification to the e-mail used to sign up with Monday.com.
As this can get a little hectic sometimes, you can turn off e-mail notifications by clicking the menu icon on the top right corner of your dashboard, going down to 'Email Preferences', and clicking 'No Thanks' to daily updates about the board.
